Cambridge Gardens is a residential suburb located 54 kilometres west of Sydney's central business district, in the Greater Western Sydney region. Formerly a part of neighbouring Cambridge Park, Cambridge Gardens was gazetted as its own suburb in 1981. The suburb is found between Penrith to the west and Werrington Downs to the east.
The area that makes up Cambridge Gardens was originally home to the hunter-gatherer Mulgoa People, who spoke the Darug language. Following European settlement, the first land grants in the area were made in 1831. Up until the latter half of the 20th century, Cambridge Gardens was largely a farming district. In 1981, Cambridge Gardens became its own suburb, having previously been a part of the suburb of Cambridge Park.
The suburb's primary shopping district is found in the southwest and features a Coles supermarket, cafes, specialty stores and a McDonald’s restaurant. A variety of smaller green spaces are located in Cambridge Gardens, with more expansive parkland found in neighbouring Penrith and Jordan Springs. Penrith's commercial district is found to the southwest of Cambridge Gardens.
