Cambridge Park is a residential suburb located 53 kilometres west of Sydney`s central business district, in the Greater Western Sydney region. Found between Penrith to the west and Werrington to the east, the suburb forms part of the local government area of the City of Penrith. Cambridge Park was largely developed as a residential area in the 1950s.
The traditional inhabitants of the area that makes up Cambridge Park today were the Mulgoa People, who spoke the Darug language. Following European settlement, the suburb was used as farming land up until the 1950s when it developed into a residential district. Cambridge Park Post Office opened in 1953 and ceased operation around 1995. Unlike neighbouring suburbs, which feature curving streets, Cambridge Park was largely laid out as a linear grid.
Cambridge Park is mostly a residential suburb, with a small selection of commercial stores found on Oxford Street, opposite Allsopp Oval and the suburb`s namesake park. A more extensive range of services and retail amenities are found in neighbouring Penrith. Cambridge Park is home to a number of green spaces including Lincoln Drive Park, as well as Shaw Park and Werrington Lake Reserve in the suburb`s southeast.
