Glenmore Park is a large residential suburb located 54 kilometres west of Sydney's central business district, in the Greater Western Sydney region. Found between South Penrith to the north and the village of Mulgoa to the south, Glenmore Park is one of the City of Penrith's largest and most rapidly developing residential suburbs. Formerly a rural area, Glenmore Park began to develop as a residential suburb in the 1970s.
The first inhabitants of the area that is now Glenmore Park were the Mulgoa people who spoke the Darug language. Following European settlement, Henry Cox, a prominent local landowner, built his residence Glenmore in the area, in 1825. While the suburb was known as "Peachtree" for some time by the City of Penrith, it later adopted the name Glenmore Park in honour of Cox's historical residence.
The suburb's commercial centre is found adjacent to Ched Towns Reserve and features HomeCo Glenmore Park Town Centre shopping mall, Coles and Woolworths supermarkets, and a number of other retail stores. As a relatively new and planned residential suburb, Glenmore Park features a wide array of green spaces, some of which include Sunbird Terrace Reserve, Blue Hills Wetland, and Laguna Drive Reserve. Penrith Golf and Recreation Club is found in the suburb's northeast.
